Social Recreation
Social recreational activities plan an important role in everyone's lives.
However, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities often encounter hurdles when trying to foster relationships in community settings. At Bakersfield ARC, we aim to dismantle these barriers, fostering increased access and inclusivity within the community.
Bakersfield ARC’s Social Recreation Program is designed to offer a structured and supportive community-inclusive environment for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In the program, each person is given the opportunity to realize their utmost potential while engaging in social and recreational activities within the community that might otherwise be inaccessible due to limitations in access or planning. Bakersfield ARC prioritizes facilitating age-appropriate and choice-driven activities for those in the program, ensuring their complete and active participation in all spheres of life. We deeply value the significance of family, friendships, and community, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to fostering absolute inclusion within our community.
ACTIVITIES & EVENTS
Individuals within the program have the freedom to select the activities and events in which they wish to participate. Participants are encouraged to offer suggestions to better allow us to create increased opportunities.
