Tailored Day Services

Employment is fundamental to quality of life for people with disabilities.

At Bakersfield ARC we break down barriers to successful employment by focusing on the ability of the individual and matching them with best business for success. Tailored Day Services (TDS) is designed to maximize an individual's needs and personal choice through customization of day services and individualized services on a one-to-one basis. TDS provides opportunities for increased integration and inclusion, as well as further opportunities for an individual to develop or maintain employment and/or volunteer activities and pursue post-secondary education. Transportation may be provided with authorization from Kern Regional Center. To be eligible for the TDS Program, an individual must be a Kern Regional Center Client,18 years of age or older.

Tailored Day Services are designed to maximize a client’s individualized choices and needs, with customization of day services through individualized services. The Tailored Day Services Program provides opportunities for increased integration and inclusion, as well as further opportunities for the consumer to develop or maintain employment and/or volunteer activities and pursue postsecondary education.

Services may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Employment Development

  • Independent Social Recreation

  • Interview Training

  • Mobility Training

  • Money Management

  • Paid Internships

  • Post-Secondary Education

  • Resumé Creation

  • Self-Advocacy

  • Self-Care

  • Volunteer Opportunities

FAQs: Tailored Day Services

What can I expect as a Client of TDS?

You will receive pre-employment Skills Training in literacy and comprehension and the Director will find a place of Business that you are interested to pursue employment.

What happens after I finish the TDS Program?

Further Development of an individual's employment suitability with the goal of transitioning into a Paid Internship Program (PIP). Eventually transitioning the Client into Competitive Integrated Employment (CIE).

How will I benefit from the Program?

Presentation Training and Preparation with resume writing, matched interviews, and providing each individual with an employment plan based on their skill set and specifc needs.

What if I would like to pursue High Education or Trade Classes?

We provide assistance with Post-Secondary Education Programs.

Are there opportunities to work?

You will receive specific and tailored on-the-job training through personal job coaching, offering customized training with flexible schedules.

Do you we do things in the Community?

We participate and engage as volunteers in the community

with a focus on serving and making the world around us a better place to be.
